Job Description

The Automation Engineer reports to the Manager of the Digital Deployment Team within the Global Industrial Engineering group. This role requires experience in PLC programming and database management with excellent communication skills. A working knowledge of Clean in Place (CIP) systems related to the Food & Beverage industry is required.This position will be responsible for configuration of data analysis software in the key growing Ecolab digital platform - 3DT for CIP. Accurate and timely customer service assistance on previously installed systems, or remote troubleshooting and customer help is required. Innovation is key to our continued success, as we strive to continuously improve you may be part of a team working to re-design existing products or software.


What You Will Be Doing:

  • Ability to comprehend PLC programs to gather relevant CIP data tags.

  • Create system or line specific tag data.

  • Develop automation related documentation.

  • Perform internal testing of 3DT dashboard and verify all system parameters.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with partners and stakeholders in other departments or with customer and contractors as required.

  • Produce clear and timely documentation on project status to managers.

  • Ability to install software and configure OPC servers to communicate in an existing customer controls architecture.

  • Assist customer with understanding how 3DT hardware integrates into their existing controls infrastructure.

  • Support of existing 3DT installations. Includes phone and remote technical assistance/troubleshooting for installed systems.

  • Modifications to existing 3DT installations.

  • Assist customers or account managers as needed with 3DT expertise or understanding.

  • Adherence and performance to agreed-upon schedules.

  • 100% compliance on all safety metrics and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related discipline, or equivalent experience/combination of education and experience.

  • 1+ years' experience with Rockwell (Allen Bradley) PLC programming.

  • Understand process flow diagrams (PFD's or PID's)

  • Ability to work evenings or some weekends as required.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite of products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).

  • Ability to multi-task and organize multiple projects concurrently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) PLC/HMI programming experience

  • 2+ years' experience with CIP (clean in place) systems

  • Experience with other brands of controllers (Siemens, Modicon, etc...)

  • Experience in the Food & Beverage industry

  • Controls networking design/implementation and database management.

  • Project management experience
