We are seeking a Leasing and Transactions Counsel or Senior Leasing and Transactions Counsel (depending on the candidate's qualifications and expertise) to join our corporate office located in Jacksonville, FL. This is a hybrid opportunity with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely. This position will report to the Senior Associate General Counsel, Vice President and will coordinate with a team of attorneys and paralegals, taking a lead role on and providing primary support to Regency's leasing, development and operations teams in the Regency Centers' Central Region. This position requires an advanced understanding of commercial real estate and leasing matters. The ideal candidate has experience in retail leasing but also has experience with real estate acquisitions/dispositions, financings, and due diligence such as title and survey review.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Advising and providing legal support to Regency teams, such as leasing, development, and/or operations teams, in connection with the drafting and negotiation of a high volume of leasing, leasing-related, and other types of real estate transactional matters including, but not limited to, (1) reviewing, drafting, and negotiating leases and leasing-related documents related to local, regional, and national tenants, (2) analyzing complex issues related to rights and obligations of shopping center tenants and occupants, and (3) assisting with the business and legal risk assessment of a particular course of action.
  • Working and collaborating directly with Regency team members at all levels within the company including senior leadership.
  • Supervising and providing support to paralegals in terms of promoting their professional growth and development and supervising work product and work volume.
  • Assisting in improving leasing and other transactional-related forms, processes, and procedures.
  • Providing legal training to field office teams and outside counsel.

Are You Qualified?

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school
  • Membership in state bar association
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney to include at least intermediate level experience in commercial real estate matters including leasing, acquisitions/dispositions, financings, and due diligence such as title and survey review
  • Previous law firm and/or in-house legal experience required
  • Prior supervisory experience of assistants or paralegals preferred
  • Legal experience in the area of retail leasing preferred, but other leasing experience to be considered
  • Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong legal drafting skills
  • Ability to analyze and present complex information with ease and reliable accuracy
  • Proficiency working in systems such as document generation and matter management systems
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, priority setting, and time-management skills
  • Ability to travel periodically to various field offices to build relationships, conduct training, and otherwise collaborate with both business and legal team members
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications customary in business use (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
