Summary

In this role, reporting to the senior director of field communications, you will manage and develop communication programs (including communication activation plans, executive and key partner messaging, and presentations and main stage script writing) initiatives, and campaigns in support of strategic communications objectives for the company's chief distribution officer. These activities build conviction, reinforce partnership, and raise awareness about key priorities and accomplishments across a variety of internal audiences.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Consults with department leaders on communication strategy. Manages and implements the ongoing strategic communication and activation plan that connects field and employee audiences with key enterprise objectives and priorities.

  • Creates compelling content in a variety of formats, using audience needs and insights, applying deep creativity and storytelling, and ensuring consistency in messaging.

  • Administers the measures to evaluate the effectiveness of communication and assess the return on communication investment.

  • Recommends, develops, implements and maintains communication standards. Assures that quality standards are present in communications.

  • Comfortable working independently and proactively offering communication solutions to leaders and the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 6 or more years of experience in professional speechwriting or other content creation, public relations, organizational communication, marketing or related communication field.

  • Proven, superior writing and verbal communication skills. Writing samples required.

  • Demonstrated skill in time and project management.

  • Ability to adjust tone, voice and formality based on audience and format.

  • Ability to absorb complex information and convert it to an understandable format.

  • Ability to adapt style and build consensus with individuals at all levels.

  • Ability to solve complex problems and analyze information from multiple sources to make decisions.

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$63,560.00

Pay Range - End:

$118,040.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
