This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was crafted from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a small, hard-working, and accomplished team of experts, you will participate in developing space launch vehicles for various spaceflight systems. We seek a technically high-reaching, proactive, customer focused individual with excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and analytical skills who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

You will lead a small team of Avionics Production Engineers supporting avionics product development on the New Glenn Program, including New Product Introduction (NPI), sustaining production, and avionics test support. You will work closely with our Coordinated Product Team (IPT) leadership, Supply Chain leadership, and external manufacturing partners to drive development, manufacture, test, and delivery of avionics products. Your team will work with stage integration, assembly, test, and operations personnel to deliver avionics products within schedule and budget.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead team to partner with IPT leadership, bring together product concepts and requirements, and identify design artifacts relevant to product manufacture in alignment with program technical and business goals.
  • Champion avionics product development project management best-known practices (initiation, planning, execution, performance/controls, and closeout) and drive IPTs to develop and release product artifacts for manufacture.
  • Collaborate with IPTs, integration and supply chain teams to develop and release product statements of work (SoWs), specifications, Supplier Data Requirement Lists [SDRLs], and product development artifacts relevant to external fabrication.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain Management and partner with vendors to negotiate, plan, manufacture and deliver avionics products in alignment with program business and technical goals and procurement timelines.
  • Partner with Supply Chain leadership to provide program and product business and technical information and changes to suppliers, and convey supplier capabilities, performance, and execution to IPTs and management.
  • Build and coordinate demand signals for hardware purchases, partnering with supporting functions including Planning, Production Control, Fulfillment, Accounts Payable, and QA/QC to facilitate order placement and product delivery.
  • Participate in Supply Chain status meetings with suppliers to supervise product performance, address risks, resolve issues, track execution, and ensure quality product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Support supply chain management in developing product strategies for avionics critical components like instrumentation sensors, batteries, and avionics boxes.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with IPTs, product test teams, contract manufacturers, and contract test houses to plan and conduct product functional, acceptance, and qualification testing.
  • Partner with Supply Chain commodity managers to guide supplier selection. Work with IPTs to lead scope changes, deviations, and schedule adjustments. Serve as primary vendor technical liaison throughout product manufacture.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant avionics engineering field. MBA or MS in engineering management, with project management training or certification (e.g., PMI PMP).
  • 10+ years of experience in sophisticated technical product development (printed circuit boards and electronic enclosures) and technical project management roles, including manufacturing and product testing.
  • 5+ years directly building, developing, managing, and leading technical teams to deliver complex electronics products, with proven engagement across the entire Product Development Life Cycle (PLC) for multiple products.
  • Experience working with and leading multi-functional product development teams and cross-geo external manufacturers to plan, fabricate, test, and deliver sophisticated electronic products.
  • Solid expertise in understanding, managing, and supervising sophisticated datasets, budgets, cost accounting, etc. (using MS Excel or similar tools) and communicating project performance with program goals.
  • Solid expertise in understanding, managing, and tracking (logic-linked) schedules (using MS Project or similar tools) and coordinating alignment of project performance with program objectives.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving savvy with proven ability to lead team to drive coordination and closure on sophisticated project and program details.
  • Customer focused, collaborative team leader with a demonstrated ability to coordinate and communicate sophisticated program details and vision.
  • Up to 25% of travel required to domestic suppliers
  • You must be a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder) or have been lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with relevant electronic product development tools: Primavera (P6) schedule management, DOORS/DNG requirements capture, OrCAD/Altium electronic board design, CREO mechanical design and Windchill Cfg Mgt.
  • Direct experience with IPC board and harness development standards, and solid understanding of Class 2 vs Class 3 circuit card design trade-offs.

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $167,088-$233,923
