Responsibilities

Coral Shores Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of UHS, is a beautiful, 80-bed adolescent and adult Baker Act receiving facility, which is located in sunny Stuart, Florida. Our professional staff provide high quality, individualized care to uniquely fit the intensity and severity of each patient's needs and offer a continuum of mental health and addiction services in a confidential, caring environment that promote crisis resolution, positive self- awareness, personal growth and problem-solving. Coral Shores is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST -

  • Performs patient assessment
  • Establishes plan of care
  • Provides care in accordance with physicians' orders and established plan of care
  • Assesses educational needs of the patient, family, care giver or significant other and provides education to meet those needs
  • Plans for discharge
  • Communicates with patient, family, care givers, significant others and members of the healthcare team to promote maximum benefit of care
  • Assesses the effectiveness of the treatment given and modifies treatment to achieve goals
  • Assists the coordinator in the coordination and integration of Occupational Therapy into inter-departmental and intra-departmental services
  • Exhibits effective leadership skills through planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating departmental functions in relation to the UHS and the NWTHS vision, mission, strategic goals and values and in accordance with JCAHO's leadership standards

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational Therapy.

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of related experience preferred, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness also preferred.

Licensure:

  • Must have current Florida OT registration.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must obtain CPR, Handle with Care, Verbal De-Escalation, and First Aid Certification upon hire.
