Qualifications
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma/GED.
    • One (1) year of experience in computer use.
  • Licenses or Certifications
    • Cape Coral Police Department 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator training program certificate within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
    • Florida Public Safety Telecommunicator certificate within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
    • FCIC/NCIC certificate within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
  • Key Responsibilities
    • Monitors and responds in an appropriate manner to 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency telephone lines and TDD devices for incoming requests for service of the City's law enforcement, fire/rescue and emergency medical agencies.
    • Responds quickly and correctly to calls, assumes control of the conversation in order to obtain accurate information from callers and correctly transfers the information into a computer while talking and assessing the priority of the request for service.
    • Answers all incoming calls to the City's 911 center; disseminates information and performs routine clerical tasks.
    • Perform other related duties as required.
