Business Unit Introduction

Operations: This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will provide tactical and technical support to Engineering/Production/Manufacturing by resolving production issues, preparing systems, equipment, materials, and components for use at various stages during the production process. Sets up, tests, and calibrates machinery, sets up and conducts tasks, and performs quality assurance according to engineering guidelines. Processes raw materials for use in production and performs quality control checks to ensure that established standards are met. Tests for functionality and adherence to established tolerances, and makes adjustments or repairs as needed. Provides status, maintains records and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a Safety-First focus while performing Process Development activities.
  • Perform various activities simulating manufacturing in a development lab supporting Process Engineering and Testing including but not limited to Orbital Tube Welding, GTAW Welding, Friction Stir Welding, Precision Drilling and Fastening, CNC Machining, Manual Milling, EDM Operation, Surface Grinding, Structural Assembly, and others.
  • Maintain compliance to FOD, 5S, and housekeeping standards and requirements.
  • Manage sample and remnant material configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process.
  • Follow prescribed process documentation process to insure data viability.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of Aerospace Manufacturing experience
  • Experience with one or more disciplines of Aerospace Manufacture with a desire to learn others, including but not limited to assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, machining, welding, surface coatings, harness/cable routings, thermal protection systems, or composite structures.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T.
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances.
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Ability to develop processes compliant with industry quality systems such as AS9100.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Experience in a welding and tube manufacturing or development environment

* Experience with CNC Milling Machine and/or Lathe programming and operation

* Self-directed and able to balance several tasks simultaneously.

* Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Seimens NX)
