The Opportunity

UCF RESTORES is a clinical research center and treatment clinic established to change the way posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related concerns are understood, diagnosed, and treated. We seek applicants for a full-time, nine-month position at the rank of assistant professor (tenure-earning) or associate professor (tenured), to begin in Fall 2024, with the tenure appointment in the Department of Psychology. The faculty member will also serve as the deputy director of UCF RESTORES, a multidisciplinary translational center dedicated to developing and integrating innovative technological approaches to enhance prevention, intervention and dissemination initiatives for trauma-related disorders. The position is joint appointed with the Department of Psychology and requires teaching one undergraduate or graduate course per semester and the opportunity to participate within the doctoral program in clinical psychology, which includes advising/mentoring of Ph.D. students in the program.

Interested clinical psychologists should have expertise in prevention, intervention, or dissemination science and the ability to work with technology partners to collaborate on innovative ways to optimize the therapeutic process and outcome (e.g., web-based interventions, use of virtual reality, smart phone apps). Individuals will be expected to develop a scientific portfolio that uses technology to enable innovative, theoretically-driven experiences that optimize behavioral and cognitive change. Applicants are expected to acquire external funding to support these efforts. Additionally, they will provide clinical supervision in the Center's PTSD clinic, which provides innovative treatment to veterans, first responders, survivors of mass casualties, and others who have experienced traumatic events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants for the position must have completed a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from APA accredited doctoral and internship programs by time of hire. Candidates must also demonstrate a record of scholarship capable of attracting external funding, and strong teaching potential/experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

To be eligible for appointment as a tenured associate professor upon hire, the selected candidate must have a demonstrated record of teaching, research, and service commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of associate professor in the Department of Psychology at UCF.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates should currently be licensed or license eligible in Florida as a Psychologist. In this context, "license eligible" means that the candidate must be willing and able to obtain a Florida license as a psychologist within two years of the starting date. Candidate possesses expertise in the implementation of cognitive behavioral therapies.

Candidates who are already working in the areas of stress, trauma, and PTSD.
