Job Description

Summary/objective

Buffalo Rock is an award-winning Pepsi-Cola Bottler founded in Birmingham, AL, more than 100 years ago. The Vertique Level 2 positions are responsible to perform any Level 1 job functions and be able to successfully perform some of the following Level 2 functions that include: ensuring the timely execution and completion of work involved in receiving, dunnage control, replenishment, full pallet picking, operation of Layer Line, flow rack picking, and Sanitation.

to work all hours necessary to ensure operations function is fulfilled, including nights,

weekends, holidays

  • This position will be responsible for performing job functions with the Level 2 position. In Level 2 positions, you will need to successfully operate a forklift in a specific area which includes: receiving offloading and putaway, dunnage sorting and loading, full pallet pick, flow rack picking, layer line pulling, and replenishment of the Vertique towers. Keep all assigned conveyor lanes full, with correct product, as dictated by lighting system.

Forklift

  • Must be able to pass forklift certification.
  • Must perform pre-trip inspection on all power equipment used through InfoLink system.
  • Operate power equipment safely by following all work rules and being aware of surroundings at all times.
  • Offloading and putaway of received product.
  • Replenishing the correct product into the Vertique slots.
  • Replenishing and picking flow racks.
  • Pick and stage full pallet picks to the dock as assigned.
  • Follow LBI process to ensure proper product rotation of FEFO.
  • Monitor quality of products upon receipt.
  • Layer Line - Operator will pick, build, and stage layered pallets as indicated through the Vertique pick. Operator will verify and then stage pallet to be taken to dock for loading. Responsible for cleaning all areas of debris and spills.
  • Sanitation - Maintaining cleanliness of equipment and building.
  • Forklift duties to include all of Tier 1 plus full pallet picks, layer line, dunnage sorting/loading, inbound receiving, and putaway.
  • Ability to learn how to successfully operate Tenant Srubber.

Sanitation

  • Must be able to be trained and successfully operate the Tenant scrubber.
  • Must perform pre-trip inspection on the Tenant scrubber used through the Infolink System.
  • Will clean assigned areas within the Vertique Towers which include: cleaning of roller racks, mop assigned areas and spills as they happen, and any other cleaning assigned in the towers.
  • Will clean assigned areas within the warehouse and around the perimeter of the building.
  • Must be able to be trained on and successfully perform light preventive maintenance within the Vertique system.
  • Make sound decisions and multitask simultaneously without constant supervision.
  • Required to follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110. Requires participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes. Required to report potential issues related to Food Safety.
  • Responsible for continuous self-improvement through the knowledge and use of all Buffalo Rock provided training, either web-based, in-house, or any other provided method. Must successfully complete assigned training curriculum, including but not limited to Web Based and/or facilitated training.
  • Other assigned duties as needed.

Work environment:

Working conditions will require both inside warehouse needs and outside pallet/tray production support. Temperature conditions will vary from extreme heat to extreme cold.

Other Physical Requirements:

  • All tasks within the warehouse are physically demanding and labor-intensive. Employees within this role are required to:
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Push and pull equipment such as: merchandise racks, speed racks, flat beds, pallet jacks and wire carts the distance of up to .4 miles
  • Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth).
  • Sense of Sound - Hearing is required for the total workday.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - vest, slip resistant shoes, gloves, hair net, eye protection, earplugs
  • Position requires physical presence within Vertique system at the Central Hub.

Required education and experience

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • Must have 3+ years of forklift experience which includes sit down and stand-up forklift.
  • 1+ year experience working in an automated environment.
  • Proficient with Personal Computers and basic use of Windows environment required.
  • Be able to read product packaging and communicate in English via radio.
  • Prefer prior experience with manual loading and unloading of product in high volume work environment.
