Job Objective
The Data Management Specialist will support the Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO) with its core mission including the advancement of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Data Strategy.
Responsibilities
  • Support DHS Data Inventory Program efforts through design, build, process improvement, capture, validation, and movement of metadata on all USCIS data assets and associated datasets through data management tools.
  • Build and test data quality business rules to allow accurate monitoring of data alignment with master data.
  • Support development of materials or approaches to address governance bodies on topics addressing data quality and integrity at USCIS and in coordination with DHS.
  • Provide technical support to build a master data management program for the USCIS enterprise that also aligns with DHS master data.
  • Identify process improvement areas and make recommendations to mature Data Quality across the Enterprise.
  • Support process and requirements analysis to standardize the data collection process across the USCIS Enterprise.
  • Assist USCIS operational offices with product owner support activities to include project management, system engineering life cycle support, documentation, and data issue tracking to enhance data quality and data integrity.
  • Support for master data management including identifying critical data elements, implementation of critical data elements, associated data standards, reference data, format, terms, definitions, data lineage, and risk mitigation support.
  • Build and modify data catalog requirements, including providing environment support to capture metadata and maintain master data management.
  • Support the maintenance of enterprise reference data including verifying deployment of enterprise reference data in tools and providing product management support for enterprise reference data tools.
