Pharmacist Supervisor
This is an on-site role in Lake Mary, Florida.
Job Overview:
The Pharmacist Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day to day activities of the pharmacist and other pharmacy teams. The Pharmacist Supervisor services as the front line resource for pharmacist questions and escalations. The Pharmacist Supervisor is actively involved in monitoring the training and development process of the pharmacist and pharmacy teams and assists in the development of policies and procedures specific to the Fortrea Specialty Pharmacy daily operations.
Pharmacist Supervisor communicates with prescribers as needed to confirm dosing and administration to ensure the correct and safe dispensing for patients; controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; responsible for identifying and reporting adverse events and product complaints in accordance with pharmacy regulations and client requirements; counsel patients on medication, how and when to take medication as well as potential adverse events and strategies to minimize events; conduct additional outreach, follow up and counseling to patients as required by regulatory agencies such as a REMS; stay abreast of pharmacy laws and changes; complete continuing education courses to maintain and renew license(s); ensures compliance with all applicable program guidelines; performs related duties as required.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
Efficiently manage the team scheduled shifts and day to day workflow assignments to meet client specific processing requirements
Verify team member training completion and proficiency by maintaining new hire training, cross training, and refresher training records
Assign and monitor training schedules for team members to complete client modules on time and proactively provide roster updates to program managers for program training registrations / off boarding
Assess the need for overtime and approve team member scheduled time off based on order processing queues.
Provide regular coaching and performance reviews to team members and regulate any performance related improvement plans
Participate actively in pharmacy quality improvement of operational policies and patient services.
Regularly review staff efficiency and quality of phone etiquette and order processing to assess staffing needs and potential improvements
Assist in developing, updating and reviewing pharmacy procedural documents to help team members operate effectively and accurately
Work closely with Leadership team to ensure program metrics are being met in a timely manner
Able to work as a team and collaborate with other Leads and Supervisors and demonstrate diversity awareness
Pharmacist Responsibilities:
Prepare medications by reviewing and interpreting provider orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities
Responsible for various duties related to the fulfillment of prescription orders
Process, pack and ship outgoing pharmacy orders, ensuring drug, related supplies and patient educational materials are included
Prepare and scan documents, verify provider and patient data, submit prescription orders in computer system
Contact providers for clarification on prescriptions
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
Counsel patients on prescriptions being dispense including side effects, initial counseling requirements, storage requirements and delivery method if needed
Able to document verbal prescriptions within pharmacy system
Responsible for interacting with technicians and other staff members in a professional manner
Verify prescription orders within pharmacy computer system and be able to determine prescription meets state and/or federal requirements
Able to communicate with providers/patients and staff members
Maintain pharmacological knowledge by reviewing professional publications, and maintaining Continuous Educational requirements
Responsible for staying up to date on all pharmaceutical product, pharmacy and program training
Able to meet department metrics within first 90 days of start day and maintain going forward
Competent to work in pharmacy computer system efficiently
Competent to open and/or close the pharmacy and building during shift if required
Capable of proper documentation of Controlled Substance dispenses
Capable of troubleshooting or solving clinical pharmacy inquires
Able to arrive early to shift to ensure pharmacy is open and ready for operations
Able to stay after shift to ensure pharmacy is closed properly or shipments have been secured
Minimum Experience Required:
4+ years of professional experience as a Pharmacist in a retail or specialty pharmacy setting.

Education/Qualifications/Certifications and Licenses:
The Pharmacist Supervisor must have a B.S. Pharm degree. Pharm.D. degree is preferred.
The Pharmacist Supervisor must possess a current and valid Pharmacist state license, in good standing.
Must be proficient with basic computer programs and able to handle multiple requests at one time, as well as ensure that medication orders are reviewed and fulfilled in a timely manner.
Capable of standing for up to 8 hours at a time
Able to bend, sit, stand, and work in front of computer screen for long periods of time
Capable of lifting up to 20lbs if needed
