Job DescriptionESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Preparing, instructing and grading all class coursework and/or supervising and evaluating student clinical experiences;
  • Assigning final grades by the established deadlines;
  • Being available to meet with students as needed to help promote student success;
  • Serve as professional role model while employed by the College.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:REQUIRED
  • Minimum of an Associate degree in a health related field from a regionally accredited institution;
  • Current certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) OR Florida licensure as a pharmacist;
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in retail or hospital pharmacy in role of pharmacy technician or pharmacist;
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written;
  • Proven teaching abilities to convey basic concepts and theories in a practical and comprehensible way;
  • Ability to recognize and to respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds;
  • Willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process;
  • Computer literacy and experience using computers in classroom with a willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches to the teaching of specific discipline.
PREFERRED
  • Experience teaching adults in a college setting and or clinical coordination experience.
All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Instructing assigned classes; grading all quizzes, tests, and written assignments;
  • Assigning final grades and delivering grades and grade justification sheets;
  • Maintaining regularly opportunities to meet with students;
  • Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment;
  • Participating in department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings;
  • Maintaining an active program of professional development related to individual, professional and institutional needs.
  • Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
