Senior Structural Engineer

Explore with us! Terracon's Winter Park/Miami/Tampa office is looking for a Senior Engineer to join the Structural Engineering team within our Facilities Consulting Division. The successful candidate will provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and Clients. The candidate will help support and grow Terracon's existing Structural Engineering practice. Terracon's structural engineering practice includes Seismic Assessments, Remedial Design work, Litigation Support, and New Design.

This may include performing and/or leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and writing, preparing, and reviewing related reports for the services provided. Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress and budgets, and recommend changes. Research and resolve design and construction problems. Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in the public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and/or industrial sectors.

Although this position will be focused on Structural Engineering, Design, and Consulting, you'll be joining a team that also works directly with our Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers, as well as a team of Registered Professional Engineers and Architects for Facility Conditions Assessments. We work with our Senior professionals and project teams to continually integrate and develop new and exciting technology for best-in-class project delivery and processes. Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead safety efforts for the team and ensure the team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment and demonstrating safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Manage or consult on structural engineering and material diagnostics projects, including remedial designs, new designs, litigation support, and condition assessments.
  • Perform structural analysis, design, and develop construction documents and specifications for new and remedial design projects.
  • Peer review construction documents, protocols, shop drawings, RFI's, scopes of work, specifications, and other similar documents associated with structural design and repair/restoration
  • Prepare and write reports that are professional in language with a logical presentation of technical ideas and recommendations
  • Drive business with new and existing clients and actively participate in the implementation of marketing strategies
  • Supervise and mentor younger, junior and/or less experienced facilities division professionals to cross-train on structural services
  • Work with existing clients to obtain additional work and develop new clients.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and 10+ years of industry experience
  • PE License in the state of Florida
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history
Preferred:
  • SE License Highly Preferred
  • Master or Ph.D. in Civil / Structural Engineering Preferred
