Combustion System Technical Engineer Senior will be a key contributor in FTTis combustion system design, analysis, development and test validation of gas turbine engine combustors and / or augmentors. The Combustor Technical Lead will acquire or contribute to engine system level requirements and establish combustion system performance, and durability requirements for the combustor or augmentor. The Technical Lead Engineer will analyze and design combustor, fuel and ignition system components that integrate into FTT and customer engine platforms to meet mission requirements. The Lead Engineer for the combustion system should be able to use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, along with application of practical classical analyses coupled with hands-on experiments to rapidly develop complex industrial and aero gas turbine engine combustor systems and augmenters. The Technical Lead is expected to guide junior level engineers in the execution of the combustion system development, design and test. The Technical Lead will also support the Combustion Discipline development of its engineers, design and design tools through mentorship and continuous improvement of analytical resources. The Technical Lead Engineer will contribute to the development of best practices in computational simulation of gaseous and variable viscosity liquid fueled combustion systems. The Engineer will take ownership of his/her results as it directly supports the combustion team deliverables and decisions. The combustion system engineer will be a key analytical contributor within a small highly skilled team of engineers focusing on all aspects of state-of-the-art combustion systems.

Education and Experience:

BS/MS/PhD in Engineering and 8+ years experience in combustion system design, analyses, and tests.

Required Experience:

Combustion System Technical Engineer Senior with BS/MS/PhD in Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of direct combustion system experience. Applicant should be a self-starter with extensive experience in combustion system analysis, CFD and test correlation experience. The candidate must have proficiency in classical combustion analyses, computational simulations and combustor / engine testing. The applicant should be highly skilled in the combustion system development process from analysis and design to test validation. The Senior Engineer is proficient in utilizing complex CFD codes along with classical analyses to rapidly develop advanced combustion systems. The applicant should have knowledge and practical expertise in combustion chemistry and physics. The Lead Engineer has hands on experience in test setup, instrumentation requirements and validation of new combustion system designs. Direct experience with both subsonic and supersonic engine combustion systems and augmenters is desirable. Proficiency in ANSYS CFD tools for combustion applications is preferred. The ability to quickly correlate analytical results with experiments and engine test data is highly desirable.
