ROLE: The role of the Controller is to implement and oversee the necessary processes and procedures in the areas of revenue, expenditures, inventory, purchasing, receiving, cost of sales, payroll, and monthly, quarterly and fiscal-year-end closings. The Controller will work with other administrative staff to make sure their areas of expertise (invoicing, receiving, inventory, etc.) are accurately processed within the existing software systems. This person will perform the tasks required to comply with the corporation's Accounting Policies as found on the company intranet and maintain proper financial controls as mandated by GAAP and the 404 Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the month end close, including preparation of journal entries, the Monthly Operating Report (MOR's), additional supporting schedules, and key account analysis.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual schedules for the Corporate Finance Department.
  • Prepare tax schedules for the Corporate Tax Department and State entities as required.
  • Prepare annual budget and monthly projections.
  • Manage fixed assets and assist in preparing capital expenditure requests for new assets.
  • Perform the review of inventory obsolescence and excess inventory in accordance with company policy.
  • Oversee work performed by Staff Accountant.
  • Along with the Staff Accountant, support the HEICO Corporate Finance department with various administrative and support activities related to the preparation and review of the monthly financial consolidation as well as various internal control related activities.
  • Work with Internal Audit to ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place and in compliance with 404 SOX requirements.
  • Oversee and report results of monthly cycle counts and annual inventory (or audited cycle counts).
  • Provide financial, administrative, and operational support, particularly in the areas of cost control as well as process improvement.
  • Maintain cost accounting policies, procedures and standard costs.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Operations Manager to provide data analysis regarding various areas of production, profit margins, work efficiencies, scrap and sales analysis.
  • Take lead in developing, writing, reviewing, and scheduling various reports to satisfy internal and external reporting requests.
  • Utilize Excel functions, graphs, and pivot tables to summarize information upon request.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing or repair environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of MS Suite- Word, Outlook, PowerPoint; High competency in MS Excel.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Bilingual (English /Spanish) preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position will work primarily in an office environment with low noise level.
