The Project Planning Specialist will demonstrate leadership in working with the project team and suppliers to develop and track schedules, perform risk analysis, identify and mitigate critical path to deliver projects on time. You would be responsible for planning and monitoring of project schedules through project execution. In this role, you will be utilizing your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others and have the ability to effect short term and some long term business goals. You will be managing and supporting the Project Manager in all communication with internal/external suppliers and customers regarding project schedules.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and consult on the initial project schedule by recording key milestones, interface milestones and project tasks from company's manufacturing, execution, delivery and close out and enhancing schedule to interface to supplier and customer's need dates (inclusive but not limited to of LD's (Liquidated Damages), drop dates, ship dates, invoicing)
  • Baseline overall project needs and provide analytics to projects key targets and recommend actions in assuring dates being met. This also include informing business dates to stake holders to maintain within project baseline
  • Lead all schedule activities with internal and external suppliers and factories for project deliveries. Act as interface between suppliers and project manager ensuring that project information is adequately shared between the Project Team and various stakeholders as needed
  • Work with the Project Managers to develop and own the project schedule, supporting customer needs
  • Establish a reputation for a predictive, result and action oriented individual to mitigate liabilities
  • Effectively manage time to support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Be the primary contact with internal and external suppliers regarding their schedules for the duration of each project
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure material is ordered on time to meet schedule commitments
  • Develop, control and monitor supplier schedules, owning communications and identify schedule shifts
  • Translate customer schedule needs/requirements into detailed project plans while driving internal execution to meet project milestones and on time delivery, define and sequence project activities
  • Perform analysis for critical path and help establish mitigation plans, holding suppliers accountable for project execution plans, challenge supplier current performance vs initial execution schedules
  • Develop and update resource curves to support project related reports
  • Participate in the development project schedules for critical projects in proposal stage
  • Develop faithful internal and external relationships
  • Assist the Project Manager to prepare for and participate in project reviews or customer meetings
  • Support or lead schedule discussions in project reviews or customer meetings
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (engineering degree preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in scheduling, project management or other operational customer facing roles
  • Proven capability in working in a technical environment (electrical distribution sector)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Projects and Primavera (P6)
  • Qualities of proven relationship building capabilities
  • Availability to travel 25 percent of time
  • Other languages (Spanish) are an attribute
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
