Description

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this position will be responsible for supporting the company's growth initiatives and strategic planning, including financial, market, and operational analysis. The Director - Strategic Finance is a business and functional expert with experience managing multiple projects and outside relationships. Creative analysis, independent thinking, and a proactive approach to adding value to the organization are key elements of this position.

The Director - Strategic Finance will identify, explore and analyze corporate opportunities that align with our strengths, and some that fall outside of our current core focus, and support our strategic objectives. They will have financial analysts reporting to them and will collaborate across many departments.

More specifically, the Director - Strategic Finance will actively (1) lead financial analysis for corporate strategy and the annual strategic planning process, (2) analyze business development opportunities at the corporate, field, sales center and cost center levels, (3) perform ROI analysis on significant capital and IT projects (4) and manage the post-merger integration process with respect to acquisitions specifically related to finance functions.

The Director - Strategic Finance will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management, including preparing board presentations, financial presentations, capital expenditure analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, new business opportunities, acquisition analysis and other projects as requested by the CFO and senior management. This function acts as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights and support optimal business decision making.

The position would be ideally located in Covington, Louisiana, however could also office fromClearwater, Florida.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs financial modeling for project development and financing activities.
  • Analyzes current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures; highlight trends and explain causes of unexpected variances.
  • Utilizes complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Prepares ad-hoc reporting and analysis and review various quarterly and monthly financial reports.
  • Develops and monitors competitor and peer analyses and review industry trends in key target markets.
  • Assess alternative business models, considering the most effective ways of selling the company's products to customers.
  • Implements and work with business intelligence tools and create dashboard reports.
  • Improves performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI in corporate programs, new location prospects and new projects.
  • Conducts thorough analysis, including valuation and business case modeling to provide detailed guidance and insight regarding potential opportunities.
  • Serves as an integral member of the company's strategic planning effort to identify, assess, and prioritize growth opportunities.
  • Supports senior management with in-depth analysis and preparation of presentation materials for our board of directors.
  • Participates in the evaluation, qualification and execution of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and other potential corporate development projects at multiple organization levels.
  • Develops strategic relationships with executives to build support and lead our team to substantive and conclusive assessments of business opportunities.
  • Mentors and develop associates within FP&A, accounting and financial reporting as responsibilities align.
  • Serves as a key member of the Finance organization in conjunction with our digital transformation efforts and provide oversight to finance and data areas to ensure a fresh look and forwarding thinking is being applied in all phases of the project.

Experience & Expertise

We have developed these key requirements around our operating principles:

  • Safety: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business administration; master's degree in business or equivalent preferred. 10 years of experience in FP&A, financial consulting, investment banking, corporate development, or corporate financial analysis. Strong quantitative data analysis skills, including advanced Excel modeling skills. Thorough knowledge of forecasting, business models, management controls, and profitability analyses. Working knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley requirements. Superior oral and written communication skills accompanied by good listening skills.
  • Growth: Proactive in seeking opportunities to improve processes and implement optimal solutions, raising quality in a measured way. Transformation and digital utilization experience preferred. Highly organized, good planning, time management and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate priorities with deadlines.
