Job Overview

We have an immediate need for a Senior Welding Manufacturing Engineer with experience working in Welding Engineering specifically EB Welding or traditional Welding. This position will be located in West Palm Beach, FL.

This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.

Essential Functions

Work is performed with minimal direction. Position independently determines and develops approach to solutions to improve safety, efficiency, quality and reduce operating costs. The desired candidate will be familiar with rocket engine manufacturing (cleaning, plating, fabrication, machining, heat treat, welding and NDTs).

Responsibilities include: manufacturing bill of material (MBOM) creation/maintenance, authoring and releasing work instructions, maintaining the planning creation schedule, direct manufacturing floor support; interpreting engineering drawings and specifications; managing tooling creation and purchases; troubleshooting and dispositioning of engine hardware anomalies; working closely with Quality, Engineering and functional/program management. Lead process improvement activities and meet site objectives related to safety, quality, schedule and cost.

90% - Work instruction authoring and release, manufacturing shop support; interpret engineering drawings and specifications for rocket engine sub-assemblies and components; leading PVM projects; nonconformance risk score assessment, troubleshooting and disposition; interface with Project Engineering and Design.

5% - Lead ARBOS (Aerojet Rocketdyne Business Operating System) projects and special projects, lean manufacturing activities, manufacturing floor concentration map analysis and project identification and execution.

5% - Lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities; provide input to proposals; update procedures and applicable specs; Identify and procure capital equipment.

Requirements
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or a related science discipline and at least Five (5) years of related technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to technical problems.
  • Requires in depth working knowledge of manufacturing engineering concepts and principles.
  • Experience with MS Office products is required. Knowledge of Creo, Windchill, ORACLE, and DELMIA experience is a plus.
  • This position may require shift rotations and extended work hours.
  • Travel 10% or less.
  • The preferred candidate will have a welding background.

May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stairs, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, bending, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. Will require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, etc., as applicable. Will be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. May be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Depending on the location of the position, visual certification requirement may apply.
