Summary

This fully qualified position processes payroll, responds to payroll inquiries, resolves employee pay issues/discrepancies and provides management labor information for assigned region.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as the first line of contact for regional offices and facilities and assists them in ensuring that their payroll inquiries are resolved in a prompt, professional and courteous manner and that the inquiry is logged and documented, if appropriate.
  • Communicates via email and answers department phone lines.
  • Coordinates directly with facilities on processing items that need clarification until they are resolved (i.e. pay issues, deductions, employee information, etc.).
  • Utilizes the assistance of the Payroll Supervisor in resolving more complicated processing, tax, or system programming issues.
  • Assists in prompt resolution of garnishments/tax levies and child support notices.
  • Processes payroll according to scheduled cycles.
  • Enters, analyzes and confirms pay adjustments.
  • Reviews and balances payroll prior to final transmission.
  • Prepares requested pay period, monthly or quarterly check requests.
  • Runs and distributes checks and advises according to facility specifications.
  • Files all payroll processing documentation in appropriate employee files or payroll folders.
  • Assists in various projects assigned by Payroll Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience processing multi-state payroll.
  • Must be highly analytical.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Above average ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department (Excel, Word, Infinium, Kronos, and query/report writing software, such as ShowCase).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to retain confidentiality of all transactions.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
