This position is located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California

This position is not eligible for telecommuting.

Essential Functions
  • Operate and maintain command transmitter (CT) mission equipment at, CT-1, 3, 4, and 5, and (e.g., Central Command System (CCS), antenna systems, high power transmitters, signal generators, Fiber optic modems, heat exchangers, and all consoles).
  • Responsible for communicating directly with the Mission Flight Control Officer (MFCO), Mission Control Supervisor (MCS), and all supporting CT sites day of launch to ensure missile flight termination capability.
  • Perform all maintenance, equipment/system status reporting, configuration control and logistics duties in accordance with RGNext contract standards.
  • Troubleshoot electronic hardware to component level, and perform repairs in accordance with technical orders, maintenance manuals and schematics.
  • Operate oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and specialty RF test equipment in support of maintenance and troubleshooting of all CT systems.
  • Document all corrective and preventative maintenance using the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS).
  • Perform daily operations and launch support activities according to standardized checklists and work instructions. Control all aspects of system. documentation/procedures and update them as required.
  • Review, update and execute all critical launch documentation to include; Operations Directives (OD's), Range Safety Operational Requirements (RSOR), Integrated Countdown Document (ICD), and Data Distribution Listing (DDL).
  • Schedule operations and forecast schedule for operations and maintenance daily for all CT systems.
  • Conduct training operations and maintenance for all CT systems.
  • Complete assigned training in a timely manner to establish a level of proficiency and certification essential for mission support.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures pertaining to job site safety and security.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
  • Ability to work in a high stress/fast paced environment and be able to react immediately to rapidly changing conditions to protect the safety of VSFB and surrounding communities.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting and repairing electronic hardware and associated support equipment.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and logic circuitry diagrams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent multitasking skills.

Required Experience
  • Associate's degree in electronic technology or related field, technical school training or equivalent military experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven or more (7+) years related operator/maintenance experience and/or training or five (5) years' experience as 8U Technician Sr. on the LISC contract with demonstrated performance through completed Enterprise Qualified Requirement (EQRs) specific to the work center that are significant to operational support as determined by management. Other applicable assessments may be considered if work center does not support EQR's.
  • Certified in operating the Antenna Positioning System and Console at all VSFB sites.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook)
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb to heights of 35'.
  • The flexibility to travel and work at multiple VSFB locations and the occasional requirement to travel to Pillar Point AFS to support ops or maintenance.
  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required.

The hourly rate for this role is determined by a Collective Bargaining Unit and ranges from $33.93 - $42.34. RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training and preferred skills, and knowledge.
