Summary

The Systems Administrator administers the operations of computer systems related to operating systems, servers, and end-user workstations. Additionally, the Administrator researches new technologies and leverages optimization techniques to ensure that systems operate efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the System Administrator will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Ensures that hardware and software infrastructure is maintained with latest firmware and software updates to maintain the security of information systems
  2. Maintains Microsoft Active Directory and related infrastructure services such as Group Policy, RADIUS, DNS and DHCP
  3. Manages file and print services and associated access permissions on servers and SAN storage
  4. Solid technical skills and experience for maintaining an effective and efficient authentication and data storage system.
  5. Install, configure and maintain server virtualization environment including guest operating systems and applications
  6. Responds to end user inquiries and helpdesk tickets in conjunction with the entire IT Infrastructure team
  7. Manage, maintain and test server backups and disaster recovery/business continuance plans
  8. Implements security protocols and best practices including anti-virus, anti-malware, host-level intrusion detection and prevention
  9. Remains abreast of changes in the company's business environment in order to manage software and hardware requirements
  10. Utilize a variety of monitoring and management tools to ensure availability of critical applications, storage and servers
  11. Participate in on-call rotation
  12. Works with IT architects, consultants and vendors on implementing new and troubleshooting existing systems
  13. Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  1. Work Experience: 5 years of system administration or related experience
  2. Education: Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, CIS or related field
  3. Computer Skills: Proficient when working within SDLC processes, programming languages, hardware and software; advanced test and debug knowledge
  4. Organization Skills: Excellent organizational, ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed
  5. Cross-functional skills: Ability to work well cross-functionally; engages and builds effective relationships across the organization; provides excellent internal and external customer service
  6. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal skills; ability to influence and possesses organizational savvy; executive presence/impact are critical to success; ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information; ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization; strong interpersonal skills
  7. Physical, Mental and Visual Skills: Ability to sit for long periods daily, answering phone calls and looking at computer monitors for extended time lengths
  8. Physical Environment: Normal office environment; potential of exposure to moving equipment, if proper safety procedures are not followed
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Work Experience: 7+ years of system administration in a multi-site enterprise environment; Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage administration experience
  2. Education: Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, CIS or related field
  3. Certifications: Industry certifications with Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, etc.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The expected work hours are approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Weekend and overtime work may be required at certain times throughout the year.

Location: Elkhart, IN

Travel Expectations: Minimal travel is expected for this position <5%
