Job Description

SUMMARY: The Senior Materials Manager is responsible for the successful creation and implementation of an advanced materials management system to track the purchases, repairs and exchanges of aviation components and accessories. Additional functions will be planning, forecasting and buying of other material required for the MRO, managing staff at different levels and laying the foundation for the culture of the department(s).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assure inventory and service goals are met and drive the result of zero customer disappointments.
  • Establish and maintain relationship with Sourcing function to monitor schedule attainment and expedite as necessary to achieve on-time delivery of materials to support site needs.
  • Interface with Maintenance, Operations, Technology, IT and other functions on-site to effectively set and achieve the standard on documenting material specifications for purchase.
  • Enhance the current processes, using data, such that they are compatible with the principles of Flow Technology and Quantum.
  • Assure the continued development and growth of assigned personnel through strong leadership.
  • Translate, prepare and assign meaningful and functional productivity plans to meet established master schedules for customers.
  • Work to control inventory levels, cycle time, and other aspects as required to meet production schedules.
  • Set strategic direction for planning and scheduling activities within the organization.
  • Provide leadership in using advanced planning tools to model, simulate, and release optimized material plans to the organization and in developing, planning and implementing the master schedule.
  • Lead the planning and scheduling activities for assigned commodities utilizing advanced planning tools to model, simulate, and release optimized material plans to the organization.
  • Determine and apply appropriate optimization methodologies to balance service level, inventory, and resource utilization using advanced planning tools.
  • Lead the organization by establishing shop schedules that adhere to the Department schedule and support those schedules through the managed efforts of the shipping and purchasing areas.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8 years of relevant/technical work experience and 5-8 years of leadership experience
    • or an additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to communicate with customers and vendors properly and clearly.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Experience with problem solving in a high stress environment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • 11+ years of procurement work experience.
  • 9+ years in the aviation industry.
  • 9+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis, Risk Management, quality or quality auditor certifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Strong emphasis on accuracy and detail when working with internal and customer data.
  • Ability to develop sensible strategies and physical solutions for facilitating workflow, and efficiency in workspace.
