This position is located on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.


Essential Functions
  • Provide technical support for all operations of the ALCOR & MMW receivers.
  • Provide input for design modifications and improvements for both ALCOR & MMW receivers; this includes creating schematics and implementing modifications as well as directing activities of technicians and helpers to properly install these design modifications.
  • Support maintenance efforts on both ALCOR & MMW receivers; directs technicians and helpers to accomplish these maintenance activities.
  • Perform testing and failure analysis of the ALCOR & MMW receivers down to the component level; designs and implements corrective measures to prevent future failures.
  • Determine ALCOR and MMW receivers spare requirements and orders parts as required; finds replacement candidates for obsolete parts and implements required design changes.
  • Provide technical support to Systems Engineering and management for all ALCOR & MMW receiver technical issues.
  • Modify and maintain documentation for ALCOR & MMW receivers including but not limited to equipment schematics and manuals; verifies drafting changes to drawings and manuals meet engineering requirements.
  • Write weekly reports conveying receiver developments and issues and/or problems to management.
  • Provide email correspondence with various vendors and other suppliers as required.
  • Provide input regarding performance of junior engineers, technicians, and field engineers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills
  • Solid knowledge of the fundamentals of receiver architecture.
  • High degree of demonstrated ability to effectively use high frequency, RF and millimeter wave electronic equipment with RF calibration to perform complex measurements in both time and frequency domains.
  • Thorough understanding of the radar range equation and frequency correlation, understanding of receiver gain, noise figure, intercept point, spurious frequency response and their measurement methods.
  • Design and assembly familiarity with RF to millimeter transmission lines and connectors, coaxial and waveguide.
  • Familiarity with coaxial and waveguide RF switching, radar protective and T/R switches, analog and digital control hardware, RFI shielding practices
  • Familiarity with software such as Matlab, Microwave Office, Agilent ADS, Spice, OrCAD. Basic familiarity with LINUX commands is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance.
  • Ability to assist in development of junior engineers and technicians.
  • Ability to lead various disciplines in the completion of projects that may sometimes be technically complex.
  • Full understanding of the safety issues associated with working at high power RF and X-ray generating equipment that are common in this work environment.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Five years RF and/or Radar experience including:
    1. Field installation and testing, calibration, troubleshooting and acceptance testing.
    2. Design and development engineering.
    3. Project management.
    4. Developing and testing RF systems up to and including Ka-Band.
    5. RF to millimeterwave frequency measurements. High power RF measurement and high voltage troubleshooting is desired.
    6. Mission Operations and Weapons test range systems experience, desired.
    7. Familiarity with Allen-Bradley hardware and software, desired.

  • Physical ability to climb and work at heights.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.

  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship or U.S. naturalization
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
