College of Health Professions and Sciences:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) is home to nationally recognized programs focused on health and wellness - and a respected faculty dedicated to teaching innovations and research partnerships. The college offers accredited programs in athletic coaching, athletic training, communication sciences and disorders, physical therapy, and social work. CHPS also offers one of UCF's largest majors, health sciences, as well as popular programs in sport and exercise science within the field of kinesiology. Through coursework, field experience, and inter-professional education, our students develop high-demand skills in healthcare and cultural competency for working with diverse populations.

The Opportunity:

The UCF College of Health Professions and Sciences is seeking qualified candidates for a Simulation Technology Specialist position. The Simulation Technology Specialist will be responsible for the programming of all UCF College of Health Professions and Sciences Innovation Center simulations, providing technical support, coordination, and execution of clinical and simulation events. This position will assist with medical/rehabilitation simulation equipment and clinical skills set-up, take-down, use, and maintenance, including PCs, Audio/Video, with other associated equipment. Other duties for the Simulation Technology Specialist will include providing technical support for simulation manikins, software, task trainers, and all associated equipment. This position will provide direct support to faculty and/or outside affiliates for simulation or skill sessions, collaborate with potential users to ensure safe and effective use of equipment, set up equipment for simulation sessions, operate simulators and equipment during sessions, and provide feedback to faculty and clinical skills staff as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with faculty, clinicians, and staff to support healthcare students and professionals to achieve clinical learning, in a simulated patient care environment. Serve as the primary programmer, providing IT support for all CHPS simulation events.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

  • Support hardware and software modifications to accommodate computer users' needs, functions, and business processes.

  • Code, test, debug, integrate, and document medical simulation scenarios.

  • Assist faculty in the development, testing, and implementation of detailed clinically based scenarios.

  • Responsible for proper setup, reset, operation, breakdown, storage, and technical support of simulation systems, computers, manikins, and supplies.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks and services of simulation equipment while adhering to all established protocols.

  • Maintain and improve current knowledge of simulation software, equipment, supplies, media, computers, and materials related to simulation learning.

  • Collect data for ongoing research or grant requirements.

  • Maintain simulation activity and learner confidentiality.

  • Provide theatrical production (costuming & Moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested.

  • Collaborate with IT services and simulation system vendors to identify, and isolate simulation, system, and network-related issues. Follow up on ticket resolutions.

  • Install software updates on computers and maintain manikin components as directed by manufacturer support.

  • Provide technical operational support for all systems and equipment related to simulation and exam rooms.

  • Document technical processes and support needed for simulations.

  • Train others on setup instructions for simulations and clinical skills.

  • Support professional staff with special projects, tours of the building, and in-person special events as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Laerdal and other AV simulation systems.

  • Programming knowledge of medical high-fidelity simulators (Laerdal, Gaumard), Python, HTML, and WordPress.

  • General knowledge of servers, databases, and web applications.
