Job Description

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer with 2 to 5 years experience to join our Orlando or Carson City, NV office working on transportation projects for clients including FDOT, Toll Agencies, Counties and private clients. The right candidate will be a member of an integrated design team, and will be responsible for developing project designs, plans, quantities, cost estimates and specifications while working directly under licensed Engineers.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering +2 years of related experience
  • Experience in transportation roadway design
  • Proficient with CADD - Microstation, Geopak
  • Communicate effectively with those contacted in performing duties.
  • Learn and apply established principles and practices of civil engineering.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties and to work as a team.
  • Design and preparation of documents for:
    1. Minor and major roadway
    2. Sidewalks
    3. Shoulder improvements
    4. Drainage design projects
  • Duties include assisting a project manager with tasks associated with:
    1. Plan preparation
    2. Cost estimates
    3. Report writing
    4. Client coordination
    5. Permitting

Software design experience should include:

  • Working with Microstation
  • Autocad and other additional cad platforms
  • Civil 3D

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years' experience working with an engineering consulting firm
  • A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Experience working with State DOT projects is a Plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Professional Engineer registration. Florida preferred.

Working conditions

General office work environment; occasional extended hours or weekends to meet deadlines.

Physical requirements

No unusual physical requirements; must be able to navigate field and construction site conditions occasionally.
