Job Description

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Roadway Engineer to join our Transportation group in our Orlando, FL or Carson City, NV office. M&N provides a wide variety of transportation services to FDOT, Expressway Authorities, County, municipal and private clients. Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to be lead design engineer on large transportation projects in the Central Florida area including large interstate and expressway projects. Qualified candidates will have experience with American Association of State Highway and Traffic Officials guidelines and Florida Department of Transportation requirements for highway design. We are looking for an individual with strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to assist with the leading of projects and teams. This individual must be energetic, self-directed, and success focused.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of FDOT, municipal design standards and criteria, and practices and policies
  • Designing roadway geometrics
  • Traffic ControlWrite clear, concise, and accurate technical and non-technical reports, correspondence, memorandums, and specifications
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, invoices, and proposals
  • Proficiency with, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Occasional travel to other offices and provide project support as needed
  • Ability to perform field observations in support of construction and data collection
  • Attend client meetings
  • Occasional work requirements beyond normal working hours for deadline completion or to accommodate field conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Transportation emphasis preferred
  • 5+ years of related experience in highway / roadway engineering design
  • Professional Engineer registration. Florida preferred.

Working conditions:

Occasional field work is required along with meeting attendance at client office locations, job sites or networking events.

Physical requirements:
