The Opportunity:
Join our dynamic Maintenance Team as an HVAC Specialist II to provide critical support for the operational maintenance and support of campus buildings. As an essential member of our team, you will troubleshoot HVAC-related issues, respond to requests from customers and staff, and ensure a safe, functional, and efficient learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Execute preventative and predictive maintenance on HVAC systems, ensuring continuous operation through planned work orders.
Familiarity and working knowledge of various HVAC systems including RTU’s, VAV’s, Fan Coils, and Heating Hot Water & Chilled Water.
Install, maintain, test, and calibrate refrigeration components connected to campus HVAC equipment.
Communicate progress to work order originators, ensuring timely completion and exceeding customer expectations.
Assist with project planning for asset maintenance, ensuring effective and efficient unit operations.
Maintain schedule completion dates, standardized productivity levels, and accurate data entry into the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).
Demonstrate a strong understanding of safety regulations, university guidelines, and policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in heating, ventilation and/or air conditioning; or a high school diploma and 4 years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of trades classifications, tools, materials, and task sequencing for maintenance, sanitation, and repairs.
Basic experience in troubleshooting and replacing direct expansion, pneumatic, electrical, hot, and chilled water systems.
Familiarity with applicable safety rules and regulations, including OSHA, Dept. of Health, and the Bureau of Fire Safety.
Strong communication skills in English to work effectively with customers and team members, operate and interpret the functions of the electronic equipment, (iPod Touch for AiM PM checkpoints), comprehend standard safety procedures, and utilize telecommunication devices.
Proficiency in computer programs, including Microsoft Office and Integrated Work Management System.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment to resolve simple and complex HVAC repairs in various work environments.
Capacity to assess material needs, maintain inventories, and ensure work productivity meets quality standards.
Health Assessment Required:
UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Copy of Universal 608 Certification.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
This position is eligible for 5% Shift Differential Pay of the pay range minimum.
This position requires a Universal 608 Certification.
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
