Internship Title: Logistics Data Analyst Intern

Department: Fleet - Intermodal

Length of internship: 1 year, part-time

Location: Chicago / Hybrid

Overview:

The Intermodal Data Analyst Intern will collaborate with team members to improve our reporting and to research different technologies in the extraction and assembly of data to aid in the development of new value-added inquiries on railcar fleet performance. As the Intermodal Data Analyst Intern, you'll also be involved in the daily functions of the Intermodal team, as well as seeking refinement of our data analysis and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement automation of manually created reports and processes.
• Development of analysis models/tools using different statistical methods.
• Assist in the data mining of Intermodal metrics by creating and executing reports for publication to end users.
• Improve current reports and documentation of new processes with SOPs.

Projects the intern will work on:

• Research and analysis - research fleet distribution data, create useful reports and trend visuals that the Intermodal team can later execute themselves.
• Assist in the day-to-day Intermodal activities, including verifying car status, distribution of equipment, and updating daily reports.
• Reports with notifications will be created for key variables, in order to determine any large shifts for within those variables.
• Assist in testing functionality of our new system TTX NEXTT, to ensure the integrity of the system

Internship Goals:

• Improve our reporting capabilities by researching different technologies.
• Increase our awareness of the large or unknown fluctuations within our data.
• Improve our data store and consolidate information to a readily available format to query against.

Qualifications:

• Major(s): Bachelors of Science (or pursuance of) with concentrations in any of the following: Logistics, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, or Computer Science
• Year in school: completed at least 3 years of school at an accredited college/university
• Specific course work: Courses in Logistics, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Data Science

Preferred Qualities Possessed by Candidate:

• Deliver with Impact: Ability to teach the Intermodal team new applications currently being taught in schools, how those techniques can be applied to add value to the team's ongoing responsibilities.
