TheFlight Training Department at our Daytona Beach Campus is currently accepting applications for full-time Instructor Pilots for an upcoming hiring class.

This is a fully benefited position offering health/dental/vision/life insurance, retirement, paid holidays, personal leave accrual, equipment/uniform allowance, and tuition waivers toward an undergraduate or a graduate degree program.

Instructor Pilots (IPs) provide flight, simulator, and ground instruction in accordance with ERAU and FAA regulations and procedures. They prepare schedules, maintain records, and ensure that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by each student in each flight course.

Qualifications
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor, Airplane Single Engine Land, Instrument Airplane.

  • Aircraft piloting skills including familiarity with and ability to perform required flight maneuvers and procedures.

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply effective instructional technique in the classroom and in flight.

  • Knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations and University Academic, administrative, operational procedures and requirements.

  • Ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced and noisy environment while exercising sound judgment at all times.

  • Must hold a current FAA Medical Certificate.

Minimum Qualifications Per Classification:

IP I - FAA Certificated Flight Instructor/Instrument CFI, CFII Airplane, Single Engine Land (no degree required).

IP II - FAA Certificated Flight Instructor/Instrument CFI, CFII Airplane, Single Engine Land.

IP III - FAA Certificated Flight Instructor/Instrument CFI, CFII, MEI or Gold Seal Flight Instructor Certificate, Airplane Single and Multiengine; Instrument Airplane. Minimum 750 hours Dual Flight Instruction Given*. If no MEI or Gold Seal Flight Instructor Certificate, 1050 Dual Flight Instruction Given*.

IP IV - FAA Certificated Flight Instructor/Instrument CFI, CFII, MEI, Airplane Single and Multiengine; Instrument Airplane. Three years cumulative experience as a Certificated Flight Instructor and 1200 hours Dual Flight Instruction Given* or two (2) years of continuous service at the University as a Certificated Flight Instructor with Gold Seal and 1600 hours of Dual Flight Instruction Given* or 1000 total flight hours and two (2) years of air carrier operational experience as a pilot in command (PIC) in operations under 14 CFRpart 91, *91.1053(a)(2)(I) or *135.243(a)(1), or 1000 total flight hours and two (2) years of air carrier operational experience as a PIC or second in command (SIC) in any operation conducted under part 121 or a combination of the afore referenced air carrier experience.

IP V - FAA Certificated Flight Instructor/Instrument CFI, CFII, MEI, Airplane Single and Multiengine; Instrument Airplane, Master CFI, 2500 hours** Dual Flight Instruction Given*, and four years cumulative experience as a Certificated Flight Instructor. Master's Degree Required.

** Dual Flight Instruction Given may be any combination of simulator or flight time.** Includes flight time while conducting a practical test as a Training Center Evaluator (TCE).

A Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Science or a related field is required for any employee in the IP-2, IP-3, IP-4, & IP-5 classifications. A Master's Degree is required for the IP-4 and IP-5 classifications. Relevant aviation experience may be substituted for a Master's Degree at the discretion of the University for the IP-4 classification.
