As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for all cost accounting activities. This involves preparing and analyzing financial information as well as performing collection duties. You will be accountable for ensuring that all financial deadlines are met.Additional responsibilities include:
  • Reconcile the company's bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers.
  • Initiate and manage financial and accounting software used by the company.
  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
  • Prepare Actual cost vs standard cost analysis.
  • Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, preparing profit and loss statement, and other reports.
  • Assist in the maintenance of documentation, journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and other procedures.
  • Filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations.
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Communicate cost accounting issues to management and coordinate deliverables.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, required
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • At least 2 years' of recent experience in cost accounting required
  • Experience with a complex business environment
  • Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills.
