OVERVIEW

The Director, Supplier Development & Logistics provides tactical and strategic leadership for and coordinates activities around supplier development (performance and consolidations) and direct and indirect material savings and logistics spend. The main focus of this role is to direct efforts on cost savings, new product development, and quality improvements by sourcing, selecting, and partnering with internal customers and suppliers. The role interacts with senior management and functional leaders regarding strategic elements of the supply chain.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and execute commodity and logistics strategies
    • Negotiate, implement, and monitor freight spend for all modes.
    • Identify efficiencies & freight cost reduction opportunities.
    • Direct activities of the sourcing team for cost savings, vendor selection, vendor consolidation, and contract spend
    • Facilitate the development of relationships between The Safariland Group and strategic suppliers
    • Measure team performance against annual sourcing goals for cost savings, vendor consolidation, vendor quality, product development, and contract spend
    • Prepare and distribute budget information for department spend and cost savings
    • Review and approve vendor contract information as developed by sourcing team. Ensure contract information is properly reviewed with and communicated to the purchasing team
    • Create a vendor add process that will limit the number of suppliers and align with commodity and logistics strategies
    • Create methods and practice of reviewing spends compliance and analysis
    • Manage relationships with key suppliers as necessary.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement inventory management solutions
    • Ensure compliance to all government regulations, third-part certifications (ex. ISO, NIJ) and company policies
    • Other duties as deemed necessary by The Safariland Group Management

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Five plus (5+) years' experience in Commodity Sourcing
    • Ten (10) years managerial experience
    • Five plus (5+) years' experience working with ballistic material suppliers
    • Four-year (4) degree in Manufacturing or Business related discipline or related experience

    • Hands-on LEAN manufacturing experience
    • Knowledge of industry or plant specific measuring processes
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills

    • Use repetitive motion
