Job Description

Our scale, global reach and proven track record ensure that we play a central role in shaping the energy landscape of the future Renewable Energy is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to perform all necessary activities to process various payrolls, while working with the field offices to audit and input employment changes including benefits, taxation, and time files. The ideal candidate will have experience processing multi-state payrolls of various frequencies (i.e., weekly, bi-weekly) in the United States and Canada.

Responsibilities
* Responsible to scrub through all time submitted to ensure proper payroll processing
* Responsible for leading Absence administration including Paid Leaves and Paid Time Off
* Identify any trouble issues in payroll and work with the respective organizations to get the items corrected before the payroll deadline
* Perform any necessary audits on timesheets within the system to correct inaccurate hours, time types, etc.
* Work directly with global Workday Time & Attendance and Absence teams to troubleshoot items as well as test new functionality
* Liaison for problem resolution for employees in regards to payroll. Payroll Specialist is the first line of troubleshooting before sending issue to Workday for programming corrections or payroll provider for true payment issues.
* Assist in facilitating issues with time administrators (Field Administrative Services team)
* Review and processing of all payroll-related tickets in a timely manner while ensuring appropriate backup documentation, accuracy, and obtaining necessary approvals as required.
* Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
* Review exception reporting to detect and resolve incorrect payroll payments
* Prepare, process, and track wage garnishments and child support orders.
* Engage in ad-hoc new projects
* Conduct audits of data changes and requests to ensure compliancy with company policy and practices
* Ability to track vacation and sick time accruals according to state labor laws and company policy
* Perform all duties with integrity, accuracy, timeliness, and customer-service orientation
* Other duties and projects assigned

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience performing the essential payroll functions; 8+ years in lieu of degree
* Advanced MS Excel Skills
* Must have strong attention to detail, and the ability to accurately deliver in a fast-paced environment
* Understanding of IRS guidelines for Pre and Post tax deductions
* Understanding of IRS compliance and limitations
* Self-Starter and is able to accomplish expected tasks with minimal supervision
* Ability to multi-task and maintain composure under pressure.
* Must have the ability to exercise a high level of diplomacy and tact; excellent customer services and interpersonal communication skills; Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups.
* Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing Information, financial reporting, conflict resolution, applicable state and federal laws
* Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
* Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through on own initiative with minimum direction
* Must be team-oriented
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
* Knowledge of Workday a plus
