As a Roadway lead with RK&K, your responsibilities will include working with a team of junior and senior engineers on the design of transportation projects. You will have formal supervisory responsibilities for an engineering team on production of alternative delivery projects. Clients include the local DOT, Municipalities and the potential to support work across RK&K's entire portfolio.

Essential Function

  • Serve as a hands-on, project based, Roadway Discipline Lead for Florida Transportation Alternative Delivery projects providing roadway discipline leadership, technical expertise, and roadway design production oversight. While the focus is on Alternative Delivery, you will also participate on non-alternative delivery projects
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines in a team environment
  • Promote the development and professional growth of RK&K's Florida roadway staff, particularly with respect to alternative delivery
  • Prepare roadway plan set components including plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheets
  • Prepare specifications packages
  • Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates
  • Coordinate with clients and sub-consultants
  • Develop and mentor roadway staff

Required Skills and Experience

  • Twelve (12)+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience in the Roadway Design
  • Design Build or Alternative Delivery Experience as Roadway Designer on contractor lead teams
  • Experience on FDOT projects in Microstation/GEOPAK or Open Roads Designer (ORD)
  • Familiarity with applying industry standards including AASHTO, MUTCD, FDOT Standards, etc.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Florida

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience as Roadway Discipline Lead on contractor lead teams for Florida Design Build Transportation projects (FDOT, FTE, GMZ, THEA, CFX, or other public agencies within Florida), including Engineer of Record for Roadway Discipline
  • Wide variety of roadway design experience including new facilities, expansion and rehabilitation of arterials, highways, interstates, toll roadways, and interchanges
  • Experience coordinating with the Design Team and Contractor during Design-Build pursuits and project execution
  • Experience assisting Preparation of Design-Build Statement of Qualifications, Technical Proposal and Price Proposals including development of quantities
  • Ability to adhere to strict QA/QC requirements
  • Multi-tasking, Innovative/Creative thinker and problem solver in a fast paced, team environment
