Qualifications Education and Experience
High school diploma/GED.
Seven (7) years of mechanical experience in gas/diesel engines, heavy equipment service and repair, hydraulic/air brakes, electrical/electronic systems, and HVAC.
Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida CDL A driver's license within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
If assigned to Fire Apparatus: EVT certification.
If assigned to School Buses: School Bus Safety Inspector Certification within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
Key Responsibilities
Performs highly skilled and specialized maintenance and repair work on City automotive and mechanical equipment.
Provides service to a variety of complex vehicles, apparatus, machinery, motors, and related equipment.
Modifies, fabricates, and alters original vehicles, equipment, and apparatus configuration for specialized use by department.
Performs various record maintenance duties, i.e., work descriptions, parts, and supplies per work order.
Log work and materials in fleet computer system.
