A worker who directs traffic in or around a construction site. May use signs or devices to direct traffic. May help assemble, position, and clean devices or equipment used to direct traffic. Must be able to effectively communicate with the public. May require certain level of training by TxDOT specifications.

Performs other related duties.

Job Duties


  1. Fabricates, erects and maintains temporary traffic control devices, including arrow boards, signs, barricades, channelizing devices, barrels and all message boards,.
  2. May operate a truck during traffic control operations.
  3. directs traffic in or around a construction site
  4. May help assemble, position, and clean devices or equipment used to direct traffic.
  5. Dig, spread, and level dirt, sand, and gravel using a hand tools
  6. Lift, carry, and manually transport construction materials, tools, and supplies
  7. Clean tools, equipment, materials, and the work area
  8. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
  9. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
  10. Other unlisted duties will be assigned

Requirements

  1. High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required
  2. Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications
  3. Move throughout a construction jobsite which includes minor obstacles including climbing ladders and inclines, operating heavy equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  4. Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
  5. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  6. Work outdoors with exposure to changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind
