Position Title: Structural Engineer
Position Location: 8010 Woodland Center Blvd., Suite 1200, Tampa, FL 33614
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Salary: $99,788/year
Summary of Duties:
Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.
- Applies technical knowledge to design solutions for complex and unique problems.
- Determine cause and origin of structural failures utilizing knowledge of structural engineering principles and testing methods
- Use reparability methodology of structure or structural components damaged from fire, wind and impacts to a residential, multi-family and commercial projects.
- Coordinates adaptive reuse projects of older buildings and enhancements to existing facilities to accommodate changes in use and implementation of equipment and machinery.
- Performs forensic assignments within the field of civil/structural engineering expertise based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the work.
- Manages multiple projects to produce client reports in timely manner.
- Ensures that procedure is being followed and checks on safety features of the project during the time it is being completed.
- Perform forensic assignments, write detailed and clear forensic reports outlining findings, causes of failure, repair protocols and provide expert testimony as needed
- Follows land use laws and regulations and ensure compliance with codes.
- Ability to initiate, develop and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.
- Assists with Business Development while interacting with clients.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: : Master's in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Architecture or foreign degree equivalent plus 2 years of work experience in structural design in any occupation where the required experience is gained.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: 25% domestic travel.
SPECIAL SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Work experience must include:
- Finite Element Software such as RISA-3D, ANSYS or Abaqus
- Design load requirements as specified ASCE Standard 7, minimum design loads and associated criteria for building and structures.
- Building codes and standards to evaluate compliance relating to ADA and Florida building codes.
- Inspection and evaluation of structures without causing damage using non-destructive testing methods such as rebound hammer, thermal imagery, moisture monitoring devices.
- Analyze and interpret common scientific and technical reports or journals, financial reports and legal documents.
- Write scopes-of-work, budget estimates, schedules, reports of findings, proposals, general correspondence, and other technical documents.
